چکیده

Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) analysis of fat mass and obesity associated (FTO) gene has been associated with obesity in multiple populations. It was shown that FTO gene had been involved in the regulation of the activities of feeding, energy balance and fat storage. This experiment randomly collected 110 blood samples from Maiwa yak groups. To verified whether there were mutations among the nine exons in the Bos grunniens FTO gene, this study investigated the variations through PCR and sequencing. Only the 5 exon and 7 exon were found with variations. The 7 exon was chosen to experiment for more hotspots than the 5 exon. Six mutation hotspots were identified through sequence alignment. Haplotype frequencies and linkage disequilibrium (LD) coefficients of these SNPs were analyzed. In this data, only a pair of SNPs we found were strong linkage disequilibrium and one haploid type has the highest frequency. To sum up, the FTO gene of Maiwa yak in this study was determined extremely probable to be a housekeeping gene.

Allelic Variation of MYF5 Gene Detected in the Camelus bactrianus

The myogenic factors (MYF) 5 gene has been reported to contribute to muscle growth and development, therefore they are considered as candidate genes for growth and meat quality related traits. The MYF5 gene is expressed during proliferation of myoblasts and comprises 3 exons. To ascertain whether there is any variation in the camel MYF5 gene, we have used a polymerase chain reaction-single stra...

Common Variations in Perilipin rs1052700 and FTO rs3751812 Genes, Central Obesity, and Risk Type-2 Diabetes

Background: Perilipins are proteins at the external level of the lipid glob in adipocytes steroid-generating cells and play a central role in lipid storage and breakdown. FTO gene is associated with Type-2 diabetes (T2D) and increased fat mass. Association of Perilipin and FTO genes polymorphism with T2D was investigated. Methods: Clinical traits in a random sample of 183 Iranian men and wom...

Novel polymorphism of the bovine fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) gene are related to backfat thickness and longissimus muscle area in five Chinese native cattle breeds

In this study, genetic variation of the fat mass and obesity-associated gene (FTO) was detected by PCRSSCP and DNA sequencing in 618 individuals from five Chinese indigenous cattle breeds, and their genetic effects on meat quality traits were evaluated. The results showed that a novel single nucleotide polymorphism C1071T was detected in exon 5 and the allelic frequencies for the C and T allele...

Genetic Variations in Exon 3 of VWF Gene in Patients with Von Willebrand Disease (VWD) from South-West Iran

Abstract Background Von Willebrand disease (VWD) is an autosomally inherited bleeding disorder with the prevalence of 1% based on population studies. The disease phenotype is due to quantitative and structural/functional defects in Von Willebrand Factor (VWF) which is a glycoprotein with essential role as a carrier of FVIII in circulation and also it serves the function as hemostasis regulato...

Analysis of polymorphism of MHC class II BuLA DRB3 exon 2 gene in North West Iranian populations of the Water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) through PCR-SSCP

The DRB3 gene is a highly polymorphic major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II gene and plays an important role in variability of immune responsiveness and disease resistance. In the present study, the MHC class II DRB3 gene in water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) populations from Northwest regions of Iran was investigated through PCR-SSCP. Genomic DNA was extracted from whole blood samples c...
